Buying a Home: Tips on Financial Planning & Navigating a Wild Market

March 2, 7-8:30 pm (Virtual event)

You may not expect to hear that right now is as good a time as any to make the big financial commitment of a house purchase. And yet it is!

Join local financial planner Ellen Janis and realtors from Jan Perry Realty & Associates for a lively and informative virtual session on the process of purchasing a home. We will go through back-end essentials, such as strategizing and saving for a large purchase, and the on-the-ground realities of searching for a home in the Berkshires.

About our panelists:
Ellen Jannis has been a financial planner with Commonwealth Financial Group for 7 years. Her background in non-profit fundraising lends itself perfectly to supporting those who are associated with educational institutions.  Ellen notes that this career combines “her love for helping people with the skills she had gained at business school.” She believes “that relationship building is key to helping her clients develop long-term strategies that truly fit who they are and where they want to go.” Ellen lives in North Adams and serves on the board of numerous local non-profits.

Jane Perry Realty & Associates are centrally located in Pittsfield, and “know the towns [of the Berkshires] inside and out.” Their Millenials-heavy team focuses on supporting the Berkshires economy, communities, and building relationships. As they note, “We believe that buying and selling real estate isn’t just a transaction. It’s a life milestone, whether it’s your first or fifth time.” They have deep experience with first-time buyers and many insights on navigating the current market situation.
