Expressive Writing: Gratitude

December 8, 7-8 pm, virtually via Zoom- Family members are encouraged to join in!

What are you thankful for? What can you appreciate and/or acknowledge these days? Expressive writing allows us to contemplate these questions on the page. This workshop includes a brief discussion about the health benefits of journaling and tools for sustaining greater self-awareness through writing. Share your gratitude with others (if you wish) and receive prompts to sustain this rejuvenating practice at home. No prior writing experience necessary. All are welcome to attend.

Presenter:  A graduate of the Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College (MFA Creative Writing), Lara Tupper taught writing at Rutgers University for many years and now presents wellness workshops (virtually and in person) for adult writers around the world. For ten years she was a faculty member at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health (Stockbridge, MA), where she led journaling workshops and retreats for thousands of guests seeking wellness practices. She is founder of Swift Ink Stories, a writing platform for creative expression, and the award-winning author of three books: Amphibians (Leapfrog Global Fiction Award), Off Island, (finalist, Housatonic Book Award), and A Thousand and One Nightslaratupper.com

Comics on Holidays

December 14, 1-2:30pm, Williams Bookstore, upstairs conference space

Let’s have some creative fun with this holiday season! Holidays can bring up a mix of feelings and memories- stress, joy, family conflict, childhood traditions, disappointment, and much more. This workshop will provide an outlet for us to process reactions to the holiday season through relaxed, fun, short exercises mixing words and images. Comic artist Anna Moriarty Lev and art therapist Kaye Shaddock will inspire us to create comics from our lives, with ZERO expectations for drawing or writing. Stick figures and words-in-bubbles are just fine! Just come ready for some laughter, camaraderie, and stress relief.

Presenters: Kaye Shaddock is an art therapist and owner of the ArtWorks community studio in the NORAD mill. Anna Moriarty-Lev is a comic artist and painter whose creative work can be seen on her website, levhardware.com. Kaye and Anna regularly co-teach comics classes locally and online.

Please sign-up ASAP!
