Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order a 3rd round of free at-home tests through the Department of Health and Human Services.
If you participate in any of Williams College’s health plans you have a few additional options:
- You can go to the Walmart and Rite Aid pharmacies, as well as Village Pharmacy in Lenox, and show your SmithRX card for a $0 point-of-service purchase (other retail pharmacies may be added as they work to get this set up)
- You can purchase any FDA approved at-home COVID-19 test and fill out the SmithRX reimbursement form and submit it to SmithRX per the instructions at the bottom right of the first page
- You can purchase any FDA approved at-home COVID-19 test and fill out the BCBS reimbursement form and submit it to BCBS per the instructions at the bottom of the form
What cost is covered?
Insurance companies are only required to reimburse you at a rate of up to $12 per individual test (or the cost of the test if it’s less than $12). Keep your receipts
How long will reimbursement take?
Reimbursement can take up to 30 days.
Is there a limit on the number of tests I can be reimbursed for?
Your plan is required to provide reimbursement for eight tests per month, per participant on the plan, regardless of whether the tests are bought all at once or at separate times throughout the month.
What if I cannot afford to pay for a test upfront and wait for reimbursement?
There are a number COVID-19 testing options. You can find community-based testing sites through Berkshire Health System or Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. You can also check with your healthcare provider for alternatives.
