Unemployment Fraudulent Claims FAQs

As a follow up to the November 17th campus memo regarding Unemployment Fraudulent Claims.

  • Fill out the state Fraud Reporting Form immediately 

  • Massachusetts notes what is required to file an unemployment claim

  • HR staff scans the claims daily and notifies any employees immediately.

  • The claim includes the individual’s name, social security number, date submitted, start and end dates for work, and the reason for separation.  

  • The college has not experienced any data breaches.

    A recent FBI Press Release indicated that the information used to file these false claims is likely from previous commercial data breaches. It is speculated that this may have been precipitated by large breaches like the one involving Equifax
