Fitness Classes on Campus

  • Fitness Classes (and Other Fitness Programs as noted below) qualify for $150 Blue Cross Blue Shield reimbursement for Williams College BCBS members. One reimbursement per family per calendar year – just submit by March 31 of the following year. Download the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Fitness Benefit Form or pick one up in the Human Resources lobby.
  • Proper ID required for all programs. See Class Guidelines for details.
  • Except at noted below, Fall Sessions run from the first week of September through December 20th. Winter/Spring Sessions begin January 6th.

  • Always challenging, always modifiable, this class is for students of all levels, incorporating weight training and functional movements to build strength, stamina and confidence. In each hour-long session, we work to improve mobility, cardiovascular health and overall well-being. Learn how to move better so you can feel better, and have fun while doing it! Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required. Limited to 15 participants.

  • Aerobics, Weights, Core, Mat Exercises, Balance and Stretching. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required. May be limited to Williams employees or spouse/partner of a Williams employee.

  • Formally known as Pilates/Sculpt, this class encompasses weighted and bodyweight exercises to gain lean muscle mass, while achieving cardiovascular endurance. This class targets all muscle groups by engaging in dynamic and isometric movements. The workouts will be done with high intensity and high energy; however, modifications are suggested for all levels and limitations. The class is designed to promote strength, cardiovascular endurance, lean muscle growth, and excess fat loss. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • This class will work to balance all muscle groups' strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Classes will blend the Classical Pilates Method with exercise variations and by using props and light weights. Modifications are suggested for beginners or for those with physical limitations. Pilates is a challenging yet safe method to strengthen your body and to feel increased agility in your everyday movements.  Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • This class is intended for students of all levels, providing both detailed instruction to guide those just beginning their journey on the mat and challenging options for the more seasoned practitioners. Each hour begins slowly with simple stretches to prepare the body for movement, progresses to an active and athletic flow to improve balance, increase strength, and develop flexibility, and concludes with a brief savasana (rest) to leave you focused and refreshed as you return to your day. With a strong focus on alignment and breath, students are encouraged to adapt the poses to fit their practice and not the other way around. Sign-up for the entire session or drop-in for a class to move mindfully, step away from a place of expectation and judgment, and experience your practice-and body-anew. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • In intermediate yoga, we practice vinyasa flow, alignment, and asana specifics. The class can range from moderate to vigorous intensity and is designed to improve flexibility, strength, balance, and focus. In light of our physical uniqueness, individuals are encouraged to explore postures in a way that allows for an optimal experience in their own bodies. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • Gentle Yoga nurtures beginners and students of any level who seek a slower, more contemplative practice. Paying close attention to alignment and sequencing, Mary is careful to assess individual needs and to offer safe variations so that the yoga poses and transitions are accessible to everybody in the room. Strengthen and lengthen your muscles, create greater flexibility in your joints, and improve your balance and focus. Through regular practice, you will also cultivate a greater sense of well-being and peace. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • This class begins with meditation and seated stretches to help shed the noise of the day. We build to an energetic sequence of vinyasa flow movements, coordinating breath and movement. With close attention to alignment, we usually work towards variations of one or two challenging poses. With creative sequencing, fun music, and a long savasana, this is great way to end the work day. Pre-registration of a minimum of 10 required.

  • The best of both worlds, this class combines the cardio challenge of spinning with the benefits of strength training. Each session includes 25 minutes on the spin bike followed by 25 minutes of strength training and core work to maximize your fitness efforts and make the most of the lunch hour! Limited to 15 participants.
